Who We Are
We are a sanctuary for wild mustangs and donkeys.
There is an abundance of native grasses throughout the 4,000 acres, however, quality hay is always available for supplementation.
All the horses arrived at Berry Creek Sanctuary in July, 2024. This will be their second winter in Montana. Preparing for Montana winters are always a challenging endeavor.
Water from Berry Creek and natural springs traverse the property, but automatic heated waterers are also in place as well.
We are no longer a 501 C(3) organization . Your donations are not tax deductable.

Our Story
How We Began:
A Journey of Love
Berry Creek Wild Horse Sanctuary was my dream. It was a dream and inspiration most horse-loving people have, but few can attain for many reasons. The sanctuary became my reality after searching for years for a piece of property where I could rescue mustangs from the devastating disruption of their families, and freedom. I needed to give back what they had lost.
Just to see them running free filled my heart with joyful peace. I felt their content and their renewed sense of wild!
Those who know the horror, sadness and fear the wild horses have endured, know the pain they have suffered. We all continue to feel that pain and pray that the cruelty ends once and for all. From freedom to capture and imprisonment is their reality.
I can’t rescue them all, but I can do something to help some of the thousands of these innocent souls who are still in Bureau of Land Management (BLM) holding facilities. Many have been born in these facilities, died in them and continue to exist in these abominable conditions for the rest of their lives until maybe by chance they are lucky enough to be adopted into a loving home. It’s a heartbreaking situation these once wild and free mustangs and donkeys now live.
